Notifications

The system notifies system users about the actions of other project participants, such as the creation or modification of various project artifacts.

In the upper right corner there is an icon depicting a bell. Notifications about changes made to projects where you are a member appear here.

By clicking on the icon, you can open a list of recent notifications, go to a specific artifact, or open the What’s New log with a list of all unreviewed changes.

Notifications by email

The number of notifications and the method of receiving them can be adjusted in the user profile settings, or in the user settings for a specific project. Thus, these settings may differ in different projects.

  • Receive notifications about all changes in the project:
    • when creating, changing or deleting: participants, issues (user story), tasks, files, comments, questions, blog posts;
    • when changing requirements, test and user documentation.
  • Receive notifications regarding the participant:
    • when creating issues, requests and user stories, tasks, if the participant is a performer;
    • when changing issues, requests and user stories, if the participant is a performer;
    • when creating a question, by the person in charge;
    • when changing the content of requirements, test or technical documentation, if the participant is the author;
  • • Receive notifications related to the participant or his role in the project. In addition to the previous option:
    • when creating issues, requests and user stories, tasks, if the participant is the project coordinator;
    • when creating a question, if the participant is the project coordinator;
    • when there are changes in the project knowledge base;

You can receive not individual notifications by email, but all notifications received over a certain period of time at once. This is implemented by receiving a digest (short summary) of all changes in the project. Immediately after installing Devprom, there are several periods available for which you can send a digest, for example, every 10 minutes, every day or once a week. You can independently set notification periods that are convenient for you in the form of a digest by creating appropriate scheduled tasks, configured in the Administration section.

Watchers

In addition, you can independently mark issues, tasks and sections of the knowledge base, requirements, test or user documentation about changes in which you would like to receive notifications, regardless of your settings for notifications about changes in the project. To do this, you need to go to the form of issues, tasks, etc., and add yourself to the list of Watchers.

Mentions

If you need to explicitly notify a specific user or members with a given role, use "mentions". To do this, in the text of an issue, requirement or comment, add the @ symbol (at), then indicate the recipient.

Customization

You can customize the text and appearance of email notifications. To do this, go to the Administration - Settings - Texts section. Open the desired template for editing, make changes and save it.

Personal settings

An icon with your avatar is displayed in the upper right corner. From the menu, you can go to your profile settings, upload a photo, change your contact information, and reset your password. In the user profile, you can configure the types of notifications that will be sent by email, as well as the method of receiving these notifications: immediately or in the form of a digest.

While in a project, you can change user settings for a specific project. In some projects, you may want to use different settings to receive email notifications. Here you can reset personal settings for previously saved reports, modules and menus.

Changing the settings of user profiles is available to the project coordinator (in the Participants module) or the system administrator (in the Users module). If necessary, you can limit how users can customize their profiles. To do this, you need to grant appropriate access rights to attributes for the Participant entity.
